Magnolia bark Extract

Magnolia Bark Extract

Magnolia is a type of plant. The bark and flower buds are used to make medicine.

Magnolia is used to treat obesity, digestive problems, constipation, inflammation, anxiety, stress, depression, fever, headache, stroke, and asthma.

Magnolia flower buds are used to treat stuffy noses, runny noses, the common cold, sinus pain, hay fever, headaches, and facial dark spots.

For toothaches, some people apply magnolia flower buds directly to the gums.

Magnolia flower bud extract is used in rub-on skin care products as a skin whitener and to minimise or counteract skin irritation caused by other ingredients.

Magnolia bark is used in traditional Chinese and Japanese (Kampo) medicine as an ingredient in Hange-koboku-to, which contains 5 plant extracts, and Saiboku-to, which contains 10 plant extracts.

These extracts are used to reduce anxiety and nervous tension as well as to improve sleep. Some researchers believe honokiol, a chemical found in magnolia bark, is responsible for the effectiveness of these medications.

How does it function?

Magnolia appears to have anti-anxiety activity in animals. It may also stimulate the body’s steroid production in order to treat asthma. All magnolia research has been conducted in laboratories.

Magnolia can soothe, calm, and de-stress everything from sleep to memory to anxiety relief.

You’re not alone if you’ve never heard of magnolia bark. My patients are frequently unaware of this powerful plant supplement loaded with health benefits. Despite its relatively unknown status, magnolia bark has long been used in traditional medicine.

The extract of magnolia bark, which is rich in bioactive compounds that can treat conditions ranging from anxiety to inflammation, may aid in healthy sleep, as well as stress reduction, weight management, memory protection, and brain health.

What exactly is magnolia bark?

Magnolia is a flowering tree native to China (Latin name: magnolia officinalis). The magnolia plant has a long history of use as a medicinal compound in traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean medicine, where it is used to promote sleep and relaxation, relieve anxiety, and treat allergies and asthma, among other things. The bark and flowers of the magnolia tree are both used therapeutically. Magnolia bark extract can be found in supplements, tea, toothpaste, as well as topical oils and creams.

A number of my patients take magnolia bark supplements to help with sleep, stress, and anxiety.

What is the mechanism of action of magnolia bark?

The bark of the magnolia tree contains several natural, bioactive compounds that have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-allergic properties. Honokiol and magnolol are two of the most well-known and studied of these compounds.

Magnolia bark acts as an anxiolytic, reducing anxiety, depression, and stress. Magnolia bark can also be used as a sedative, assisting with sleep. (Of course, its anti-stress properties indirectly aid in sleep.)
